Graduation Requirements
Effective with the incoming 9th grade class of the 2012-2013 school year, graduation from a Thornton Fractional Township High School will require that a student successfully complete 23 credits during at least eight semesters of full-time attendance.

Science................................................................2 credits
Math......................................................................3 credits
P.E....................................................................3.5 credits
Health................................................................0.5 credits
Electives.................................................................7 credits
Total Required.................................................... .23 credits
Of the 23 minimum credits required for graduation, 19 credits must be in courses other than Physical Education and Driver Education. Students must enroll in P.E. each semester during the regular school year unless they are enrolled in Driver Education, Health or have received a valid P.E. waiver.
In addition to the above requirement, all students must:
- Attend classes full-time for eight semesters (4 years)
- Take the SAT
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA)
- Pass the U.S. and Illinois Constitution exam
FOUR YEAR PLAN OPTIONS
HONORS COLLEGE PREPARATORY
For students desiring to gain admission to a state university with the highest admission requirements and public and private colleges with highly competitive and the most selective requirements.
- English 4 years (Honors Level)
- Mathematics 4 years (culminating in Honors Pre-Calculus or AP Calculus)
- Science 3 or 4 years (culminating in Honors Physics or Honors Chemistry II)
- Social Studies 3 or 4 years (culminating in AP Modern European History or A P U.S. History)
- Foreign Language 2 - 4 years
- Electives 2 years
COLLEGE PREPARATORY AND CAREER/TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
For students desiring to gain admission to four year colleges/universities with competitive admission requirements and preparation in a particular program at career/technical education (CTE).
- English 4 years
- Mathematics 3 or 4 years (culminating in Pre-Calculus, A.P Calculus or Statistics and Modeling)
- Science 3 - 4 years
- Social Studies 3 years
- Foreign Language 2 - 4 years
- CTE 2 - 3 years
