Barbering & Cosmetology
Thornton Fractional District 215's Barbering & Cosmetology Program is a two-year program housed at Thornton Fractional North High School. This program provides students with the opportunity to complete the required 1500 clinical hours, making them eligible to attain a professional license in cosmetology or barbering upon graduation.
Enrollment in this program is competitive and requires students to complete an application and interview process. Applications open each November and are available to sophomore students only.
Students participate in hands-on training in the studio during weekday mornings, with some required weekend and summer hours, ensuring they meet the comprehensive standards of the industry.
The program emphasizes both technical skills and business strategies, including:
✅ Essential salon and barbering services and techniques
✅ Customer service and client retention
✅ Salon retailing and target marketing
✅ People skills to enhance client relationships
The curriculum balances theory and practical application, starting with a classroom-based foundation and transitioning to clinical and hands-on experiences throughout the program.
This innovative program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and professionalism needed to excel in the beauty and barbering industry while preparing them for successful careers.
